Caster Selection for Industrial Trolleys: PU, Rubber, Nylon and Pneumatic Wheels
Wheels decide how the trolley actually feels
The same steel frame can feel easy or difficult depending on caster choice. Wheel material, diameter, bearing quality, brake design, and caster layout affect pushing force, noise, floor protection, safety, and long-term maintenance.
Wheel material
PU wheels are common for smooth indoor floors and quiet warehouse operation. Rubber wheels help absorb vibration and protect floors. Nylon wheels can suit hard surfaces and higher loads. Pneumatic wheels are useful when rough ground, outdoor routes, or impact absorption are important.
Fixed, swivel and brake layout
Two fixed plus two swivel casters give directional control. Four swivel casters improve turning in tight spaces but can feel less stable on long straight routes. Brake casters are important for loading, unloading, slopes, public spaces, or tool carts used as mobile workstations.
What to confirm before quotation
- Floor type, route distance, and maximum slope.
- Noise requirement and floor protection requirement.
- Fixed, swivel, brake, or central brake layout.
- Manual push, pull handle, tow bar, or AGV interface.
- Replacement wheel availability for repeat orders.
