Press Brake Bending Guidelines for Trolley Shelves, Trays and Guards
Bending turns flat sheet into stronger trolley parts
A flat sheet can become much stiffer after bending. This is why trolley shelves, trays, platform edges, drawer bodies, side guards, and reinforcement channels often use folded edges or U-shaped forms. Good bending design improves strength, safety, and appearance without adding unnecessary material.
Bend radius and flange length
The bend radius should match material thickness, material type, and available tooling. If the radius is too tight, cracking or inconsistent angles can occur. If the flange is too short, it may not form accurately. For repeat orders, keep bend radius and tooling assumptions consistent across drawings.
Holes near bends
Holes, slots, and cutouts placed too close to a bend can deform during forming. This matters for caster plates, shelf fixing holes, drawer slides, side guard mounting holes, and logo plates. Move holes away from the bend line or confirm distortion is acceptable.
Springback and formed accuracy
Steel, stainless steel, and aluminum spring back differently after bending. Long shelves or wide trays may need extra review because small angle errors become visible over length. Confirm which dimensions are critical: outside size, inside space, hole-to-hole distance, or assembled fit.
