How to Design a Foldable Cage Trolley for Warehouse and Retail Use

Foldable cage trolleys save space but need careful structure

A cage trolley is used when goods need containment, visibility, and fast loading. A foldable cage trolley adds another requirement: it must fold and unfold smoothly, stack or nest properly, and still stay strong during daily warehouse or retail operation.

Mesh and panel design

Mesh size should match the goods being moved. Small packages may need tighter mesh or shelf liners. Heavier goods need stronger wire, better panel reinforcement, and a stronger base frame. Door opening direction should fit the loading workflow.

Hinges, locks and folding points

Foldable cages need hinge clearance after coating, lock fit, and repeated movement checks. Powder coating can make tight hinges difficult if clearance is not reviewed. If the cart will be nested or stacked, confirm folded size and how many units fit per pallet or container.
