Laser Cutting Design Checklist for Custom Trolley Parts
Why laser cutting matters for trolley manufacturing
Laser cutting creates many flat parts used on industrial trolleys: platform decks, caster plates, shelf blanks, drawer panels, lock plates, side guards, brackets, cable hooks, and reinforcement plates. If the flat blank is wrong, bending, welding, coating, and assembly problems follow.
Kerf and hole design
Kerf is the material removed by the laser beam. It affects small holes, slots, tabs, and fit-up parts. Buyers should avoid extremely narrow slots or tiny holes unless they confirm the supplier can cut and deburr them consistently. Wheel mounting holes and bracket holes should be dimensioned clearly because they decide assembly alignment.
Heat affected zone and burr
Laser cutting creates heat around the cut edge. For most trolley parts, the main concerns are burr, sharp edges, coating appearance, and hole accuracy. Parts handled by operators, such as handles, trays, shelves, and guards, should have edge-break or deburring requirements stated on the drawing.
RFQ checklist
- DXF, DWG, STEP, or PDF drawing.
- Material grade and thickness.
- Critical holes, slots, and assembly dimensions.
- Deburr, edge radius, and cosmetic edge requirements.
- Whether the parts will be bent, welded, plated, galvanized, or powder coated.
